The Sydney Suns may be safely into the AUL grand final, but they can’t treat Canberra lightly in the final round of the regular season.

Four straight wins have positioned the Suns at the top of the AUL ladder and they will take some beating in their bid for a maiden AUL title.

Canberra may be out of the running for the final, but there is still plenty to play for and the Freeze will be looking for a big finish to their season.

The Freeze may only have one win this season, but that could easily have been two after twice surrendering 3-0 set leads against the Breakers last week.

Had the Freeze won that match, they could have been sitting as high as second on the AUL ladder.

Now Canberra will be desperate to avoid a last-place finish and will be looking to finish the season on a strong note so they can build towards 2020 positively.

How this match impacts the final

In short, it doesn’t.

Sydney are guaranteed their place in the final and Canberra cannot make it.

The Freeze can still finish last on the AUL ladder, though, and Sydney will want to carry strong form into the decider so expect both teams to come out strongly regardless.
